Afternoon Seminar: Google in the Enterprise
The afternoon seminar about Google in the enterprise was held in London 28th January 2009.
Thanks to all who participated.
Google is evolving and expanding beyond its role as dominant no-nonsense search provider to now offering a increasing number of enterprise tools.
A growing number of companies and organisations are adopting and working with the various Google offerings available.
However, in the greater scheme of things, accounts of actual experiences with Google adoptions in the enterprise are still few and it is therefore difficult to form a clear, objective picture of pros & cons.
This afternoon seminar is designed to give you an understanding of where Google has got to with its enterprise offering – and just as importantly: what the early adopter experiences are. Does Google offer anything different or more compared to the many solutions already available? What about the cost and the young partner eco-system?
Meet early adopters; among those the Guardian newspaper and WWF; meet representatives from Google and meet Janus Boye, analyst at J. Boye. Janus will present his view based on interviews with a large number of early Google adopters, including enterprise users of Gmail, Apps, Docs, enterprise search and web development tools. Janus is also the lead analyst on a new evaluation report on Google in the Enterprise.
The afternoon will offer ample opportunity to put your questions to both the practitioners, the analyst and Google.

4.40pm–5.20pm: The analyst’s perspective – Janus Boye
Having spent the last months evaluating the many Google enterprise tools and just as importantly, interviewing Google enterprise users, experts and partners around the world, Janus will present his findings from a vendor-neutral perspective. Google has developed some interesting, easy-to-adopt; at times even groundbreaking enterprise offerings. However, like the support offered- it remains work in progress. How can you make the most of working with Google – now and going forward?
